Justina Ireland is the award winning and New York Times bestselling author of numerous books
including Dread Nation and its sequel Deathless Divide, Rust in the Root, the middle-grade novel Ophie's Ghosts, and is one half of the creative team behind Tales from Cabin 23, a spooky middle grade series featuring stories from historically marginalized authors which launched with The Boo Hag Flex. She is also the co-author of the romantasy duology Chaos and Flame and Blood and Fury with author Tessa Gratton.
Justina has penned a number of Star Wars books including Lando’s Luck, Spark of the Resistance, A Test of Courage, Out of the Shadows, Mission to Disaster, A Valiant Vow, Acolyte: Wayseeker as well as Path of Deceit and Defy the Storm with Tessa Gratton. She is one of the story architects of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia initiative and is also one of five original writers.
Justina is also prolific in comics, having written for Boom!, Dark Horse, IDW, and Marvel.
In the screenwriting arena, Justina has worked on Netflix’s The Fall of the House of Usher and has staffed a number of other TV writers’ rooms.
She has also won a number of state library association honors and industry awards. She won a World Fantasy Award for her editing work on FIYAH, a literary magazine of Black speculative fiction, which she helped create. Justina has won the Scott O’Dell Award for historical fiction and has been shortlisted for the Hugo, Nebula, and Bram Stoker awards. She also won the Locus award for Dread Nation.
